Wedding dress
shopping is one of the most exciting jobs a bride to be has.
With so many options it is hard to know where to start. You
definitely need to get some champagne, bridesmaids (if nearby),
your mother and sister. Venture off to try on dresses, but
before you do, there are questions to ask yourself. Do you want
a tradition white dress, ivory, one with color? What about an
A-line, princess style, fitted, or mermaid? Do you want straps,
strap less, straps on your shoulders, or sleeves? Do you want a
train, a dress that zips, or one that laces? Do you want
beading, embroidery or plain? Do you want silk or chiffon? Is
there a certain designer you are looking for? You can see there
are a lot of things to think about when buying a dress. I
recommend looking at magazines (one of my favorite things) and
determine a style or designer you like.
Most of these
same questions apply when looking for bridesmaids dresses.
Tips:
-
Even though
you may want a designer, it does not mean the dress is any
more expensive than some of the “discounted” bridal stores.
(Though some definitely are.) For example, I fell in love
with a Maggie Sottero dress and it ended up being just as
much as the dresses I liked in the “discounted” bridal
stores.
-
When it
comes to designers, they let stores sell their product. Find
all stores around you that sell the designer, call all of
them and ask how much the exact same dress are. Prices will
differ and you can save a lot of money. FYI – wedding
dresses have names “The Cassandra” and so forth.
-
Some bridal
shops require that you make an appointment rather then just
show up.
